LABORATORY IN BRIEF
The Laboratory of Ergatic Systems (Man-Machine Systems - MMS) was established
at the IEC in 1971 and is a basic laboratory of the Institute in the field
of research and development of the theory of complex MMS analysis and synthesis.
The main scientific directions are:
-
· development of the theory, methods, analysis and synthesis of the intelligent,
information technology (IT) in MMS;
-
· development and study of the methods of design and functioning efficiency
increasing of MMS, using the new IT.
STAFF
At present 21 persons work in the Laboratory of Man-Machine Systems
(LMMS), including: the head of the Laboratory Prof.,
D.Sc. Gerald G.Man`shin and 10 senior scientists with Ph.D. degree
I.Tom, V.Savchenko, E.Leonovich, V.Tihomirov, O.Protopopov, A.Prihogy,
A.Smolsky, T.Kononkov, M.Solovey, A.Gutsaliuk.
RESEARCH FIELDS
There are the following areas of interest of the LMMS:
-
· methods and means of preventive maintenance of MMS;
-
· systems of modeling, analysis and computer testing 3D layout of workstation
of MMS operator, using the computer model of parametric 3D dummy and the
set of ergonomic criteria;
-
· modeling of complicated algorithms of operator activity in the normal,
abnormal, accident situations and prediction of reliability indices of
operator activity in corresponding situations;
-

input of the two- and three- dimensional information of the structurally
complex forms;
-
· complex method of training and support of effective activity of MMS man-operator;
-
· method of reliability-oriented design of MMS;
-
· development of method for check and control of the vigilance level, check
of the emotional strain and the perception of the semantically binary relevant
information of the operator during the execution of basic activity algorithms;
-
· development and study of the methods for prevention and automatic correction
of operator's errors, caused by the tremor of executive organs during the
executing of precision activity algorithms;
