THE LABORATORY OF IMAGE PROCESSING AND RECOGNITION IN BRIEF
The Laboratory of Image Processing and Recognition (LIPR) is one of the 20 Laboratories of the Institute of Engineering Cybernetics of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences. It is the leading research unit of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the field of image processing and pattern recognition.

 Research in the area of image analysis and processing has been carried out in IEC starting from the end of 70s. The Laboratory of Image Processing and Recognition was officially established in November 1986 as a result of merger between the Laboratory of Reading Devices (headed by Dr. E.Leonovich) and the Group of Image Analysis (headed by Dr. S.Ablameyko). Dr. S.Ablameyko has been elected the head of the Laboratory.
